Mental illness can effect anyone.
No matter how much money or fame you have, mental illness doesn’t discriminate.
It’s a horrible thing when anyone commits suicide, but when celebrities take their lives, it gets a lot more media coverage than usual. This can lead to bad things, such as people following in their footsteps.
This can also have a somewhat positive effect, result in people spreading awareness about suicide and mental health.
However, people should not need to take their lives for others to spread awareness.
Every day we should work to show others they have resources and ways to reach out.
Not only this, but celebrity deaths tend to be romanticized and sensationalized. People who have acquired fame are humans just like everyone else. It’s not any more beautiful or any more tragic just because they were famous.
Suicide prevention and awareness is something that should be promoted all the time.
